Dhulikhel  retreat tour  is another popular destination around Kathmandu valley. It is about 21 miles east of Kathmandu. If you drive it takes 45 minutes from Kathmandu. Dhulikhel is situated at the foothills of the Panchkhal valley on the Chinese-built Arniko Highway which leads to Tibet. On the way one passes Banepa, a former medieval city-kingdom that once boasted of diplomatic relations with China’s Ming dynasty. This place also offers the best views of the north eastern Himalaya. The peaks on view stretch from Langtang Lirung (7246m) in the east, through Dorje Lakpa (6966m) to the huge bulk of Gauri Shanker (7145m) and nearby Melungtse (7181n) and as far as Number (5945m) in the east. Many visitors come here for one night stay enjoying mountain views. Many trekkers also visit this place to stretch their legs before setting off on longer treks and also overnight here for relaxation after come back from trekking. Just after short walks from Dhulikhel hotels and resorts you reach Old Dhulikhel. It is a close traditional Newar settlement of remarkable architectural consistency with its four to five-storied brick mansions built in an almost Victorian style. From Dhulikhel you can go one day hiking to Namo Buddha, a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site.
