Introduction to Magar heritage tour Karbakeli trek

Karbakeli eco trek is the newly explored trekking route which passes through the heart of Annapurna region and takes you to the sacred Karbakeli Thaan region which is a sacred god of Pun Magar. This journey is designed to fulfill the demand of trekkers to explore offbeat trail, culture, people and religion. Thus it was to explore the untouched beauty of remote region of Myagdhi district. The journey follows regular Poonhill trail until Poonhill after we head towards Karbakeli region via Fulbari which truly amazing place. This journey takes you close to Pun Magar culture and introduces you to their tribe god Karbakeli.

How to access Karbakeli trek?

The journey starts from Pokhara driving to Nayapul where we can start the trek or some alternative to start with. The journey can start from Beni or Tatopani as the alternatives of Nayapul. Starting from Nayapul is convenient than starting from other places. Here we are talking about the journey through Nayapul which follows Freezing River Modi Khola and later it follows flossing stream called Brungdhi Khola. The walk is really beautiful that pass through the bank of Brungdhi Khola river and its lush green all around. After Tikedhunga the trail goes steeply up to Ulleri through the stone upstair which is really challenging and scenic. After we reach Ulleri at 2000m the climate ultimately changes it gets cold there. While we stay the first night at Ulleri in one of the teahouses.

The next day we head towards Ghorepani which is the most famous hill station in Nepal with dozens of mountain view and surrounded beautiful rhododendron forest. Ghorepani is also famous for the hill Poonhill 3210m the best viewpoint in Nepal for panoramic Himalayan view and sunrise. Next early morning after visiting Poonhill we head towards Karbakeli via Phoolpari which is famous for a dense rhododendron forest. We stay in the local homestay at Karbakeli and visit the temple of Karbakeli baba the tribe god of Pun Magar people. Next day we head to Beni walking several hours where the trek ends. Beni is the district headquarters of Myagdhi district which is the confluence town of two beautiful rivers Beni Khola and holy river Kali Gandaki. Finally, the next day we drive back to Pokhara which takes about three hours.

Karbakeli eco trek is an amazing journey which introduces trekker to unexplored Magar territory as well as the tribe god and pilgrim of Pun Magar people which is one of the major ethnic group of this region.
