We protect and enhance the environment and improve the well-being of destination communities, as well as the holiday experience for visitors.

Objective:

Our attention to environmental, social and economic responsibility includes working within the law and voluntarily exceeding legal requirements in order to be innovative and demonstrate leadership on the issues that are important to us and our supporters. As we design experiences, execute events and evaluate our success we are able to choose every day in big and small ways how our actions and words build a better quality of life for our employees, clients, event participants and suppliers. Our focus will be reduction of unnecessary consumption energy and use of renewal sources.

Sustainable Policy

As a growing trekking company, we recognize that the environment, communities and cultures within which we operate are vital to the success of our business. As a responsible company cores values and underlines our commitment to sustainable development and to making a positive impact on society.

We therefore commit in the long term to:

Recycle as much waste material as possible and Keep energy usage low.

Purchase products with a lower environmental impact. For example environmentally safe soaps and detergents.

Use the collective influence of Himalayan smile to drive sustainability within the trekking industry.

Understand and respect the needs of customers, colleagues, suppliers, industry partners and local communities.

Deliver long- term strategic benefit and shareholder value by maximizing the opportunities that sustainable development presents.

Embed sustainable development principles into core business practices throughout company business.

In support of the above, we will work to:

Prevent pollution wherever possible and continually improve our environmental performance, specifically by reducing our carbon emissions through work programmers with our Hotels, transport and office premises.

Optimize our holidays’ environmental, economic and social impact by embedding sustainability into our supply chain and initiating activities that protect and restore the natural environment and enhance local livelihoods.

Provide information, support to colleagues, gaining their commitment to taking action on sustainable development issues.

Encourage our customers to minimize the harm to environment, proper discarding of pollution along with take action to reduce their negative impact and maximize their positive image in destinations

Responsibility for ensuring that each operating business complies with the company policy on sustainable development.

Action Plan/ Implementation

Replace light bulbs with low energy light bulbs like LED’s or CFL’s.

Make it a practice to turn off lights when you leave a room that isn’t being used.

Use coffee cups that can be washed and reused instead of paper cups.

Purchase paper products made out of recycled material.

Offer employees the opportunity to work from home once a month.

Offer incentives for employees to ride the bus or join a carpool.

Work in consultation with governments, NGOs, industry partners and animal welfare organizations to continue to raise standards tourism.

Child Protection Policy

Himalayan smile trek and adventure is committed to child protection – both those we take on holiday and those in destinations. We condemn the exploitation of children, a fundamental abuse of a child’s human rights and dignity, and we reserve the right to terminate business with any person or company that is engaged or associated with any form of exploitation.

Travel and tourism businesses have an important role to play in protecting children’s rights. We do not use child worker in any circumstances. We follow the rule of ILO child labour policy and encourage to do so to other our member.

Welfare Policy

Being a responsible tourism company, we are cooperating and helpful to local community and other social organization. Our responsible inventiveness was:

We conduct all our trips without any disturbance to the local ecology.

We hired local guides and staff who have good knowledge of trekking trail, mountains and culture.

We prioritized on the consumption of local products e.g. vegetables, grains, fruits and dairy products.

We contribute 10% of our profit generated each trading year in the social activities. We mostly spend our money on educational programs and projects that strengthen the lifestyle of local people.

In addition to it we allocate certain percentage of profit from every trip for the welfare of porters. We use that fund buying basic trekking equipments and distributing to local porters.

We acknowledge the level of public concern about the welfare and protection of animals in captivity and in the wild. We therefore commit to working with suppliers to ensure compliance with relevant national and international legislation and best practice.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Monitoring is the systematic collection and analysis of information as a project progresses. It is aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of a project or organization. It is based on targets set and activities planned during the planning phases of work. It helps to keep the work on track and can let management know when things are going wrong. If done properly it is an invaluable tool for good management and it provides a useful base for evaluation.

Evaluation is the comparison of actual project impacts against the agreed strategic plans. It looks at what you set out to do, at what you have accomplished, and how you accomplished it.

We check our action plan progress in end of every month. If any mistake or any misunderstand happen then we immediately discuss and solve the problem or took to the action plan.
