Trek Overview

Trek Overview

One of Nepal's stunning and challenging treks is the Manaslu Circuit Trek, situated in Nepal's remote Himalayas, which encircles Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), the world's eighth-highest peak. This tea-house trek is about 177 km (about 110 miles) long and usually takes about 14–18 days, rising sequentially from about 900 m to the high Larke La Pass 5,160 m

Along the way, you trek through green subtropical jungles and irrigated rice fields and traverse suspension bridges high above rushing rivers and waterfalls. In the springtime, rhododendrons blaze with color. Lastly, the trek climbs up through pastures to the high passes with fine Himalayan vistas for the trekkers. Cultural immersion is no less vibrant. Remote villages (Namrung, Samdo, Samagaon, and so on) dot the trail, each set in the background of fluttering prayer flags and ancient gompas

Manaslu circuit trek. Essentially, Gurung and Tibetan settlements welcome you with warmth. Mountain villages share warm Nepali hospitality (Bhat-dal, butter tea) in humble tea houses. Monasteries reverberate with the chanting in mani walls and chortens, connecting you to deep Buddhist traditions. Wildlife and flora thrive as well: 33 species of mammals (wary snow leopard, Himalayan tahr, and musk deer), 110 bird species, and approximately 1,500–2,000 flower species live in the Manaslu Conservation Area

Physically demanding—steep climbs and thin mountain air, long trekking days—the trek is, however, well supported. Each day, trekkers trek for 5–8 hours, but acclimatization days (typically in Namrung or Samagaon) are planned into the schedule to protect against altitude sickness. The Manaslu circuit trek offers simple teahouse lodges along the trail, providing nightly overnight stays and hot meals. It is possible because of the expert guiding and hands-on support for fit, well-prepared trekkers. Spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, are the best months with clear skies and beautiful rhododendrons. It's easy to feel inspired by dawn sunlight coating glacial summits and serene evenings brightened by flapping prayer flags along starry skylines. Passing the 5,160 m Larke La is something to take pride in, with breathtaking views of Manaslu and the surrounding mountains

Combining unspoiled natural scenery, authentic culture, and actual physical challenge, Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal's distinctive and memorable trekking experiences

Why Choose Manaslu Circuit Trek—Pure, Remote, Unforgettable Trek

  • A trek to a high-altitude circuit in the Nepalese Himalayas offers a true Himalayan wilderness experience amidst Nepal's restricted conservation zone.
  • The total length is around 177 km, with a 14–18 day duration, and the maximum Larke La Pass is at 5,160 m.
  • Scenic Features include subtropical forests, terraced fields, foaming rivers and waterfalls, rhododendrons, meadows, and panoramic views of mountains like Manaslu, Annapurna Himal, Ganesh Himal
  • Whitewashed stone villages in typical Gurung and Tibetan style (such as Samagaon, Samdo, Namrung), ancient gompas, and flying prayer flags. Colorful Buddhist culture is all around—mani walls and chortens, along with warm people inviting you to eat with them.
  • Untouched nature preserve rich in biodiversity: snow leopards, Himalayan tahr, musk deer, 110 bird species, and 1,500-2,000 varieties of flowering flora. The trek passes through all the climatic zones (from tropical to polar)
  • Strenuous, high-altitude trekking (steep terrain, low oxygen) balanced by careful planning: 5–8 hours of trekking each day with planned acclimatization, simple tea-house lodging each night, and hot, locally prepared dinners. Permits and guides ensure safety and logistics.
  • Spring (March–May) and fall (Sept–Nov) for good weather, sunny skies, and multi-colored rhododendron blooms
  • Off the beaten path and less crowded than others, the Manaslu Circuit is a trek combining stunning nature and authentic culture. It has been likened to a "time-travel" journey by trekkers through the villages of timeless mountains nationally, and a memorable trekking experience in the Nepal Himalayas.
