The Khopra Danda Trek is a newly opened trekking trail in the Annapurna region. This trek offers spectacular Himalayan views as well as going through several ancient villages where we can see different ethnic group people like Gurung, Magar, Villages, Chhetri & Dalits. This region is very famous for the flora & fauna found in this region.
The Khopra Danda trek is also famous under the names of the Khopra Ridge Trek and the Khayer Lake Trek. This is a recently built virgin trekking trail; thus, it looks exotic and unspoiled. According to the trekkers who have already done this trek, it is one of the best viewpoint treks in western Nepal. The trail goes through lush, thick forests of pine, oak, rhododendron, bamboo, and deer, and langur monkeys are common to see along it.
The Khopra Danda trek goes north towards Ghorepani Poon Hill, near Annapurna South. We can see a flock of yaks and a yak-ye-cheese factory during this trek. During trekking, we can see dozens of mountains from the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri region. The mountains we can see from this trek are Dhaulagiri I, Gurja, Nilgiri South, Tukuche Peak, Thapa Peak, Dhaulagiri II, Dhaulagiri III, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Mardi Himal.
Khopra Danda trek: the highest elevation we go to during this trek is Khair Lake, 4500 m/14760 ft. We have a one-day excursion to Khair Lake from Khopra Danda, which normally takes around eight hours round trip. There are tea houses run by the community in the Khopra Trail. The tea house is basic here, but they have good service for food and accommodation as well as a warm dining area heated with yak dung and firewood.
The Khopra trek will fulfill your desire to explore an off-beat trail that combines a great mixture of people, hilly landscape, great panoramic Himalayan views, wildlife & high altitude Eco system.
Enjoy a scenic drive to Pokhara; you’ll get this pretty much picturesque ride, where rivers wind along, hills roll, terraced fields glow, and little villages sit peacefully, before you reach beautiful Pokhara.
