The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks across the Annapurna Region. It is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary trek. The trail passes through the formidable bamboo forests and thickets to open up the great amphitheater of the sanctuary for recreational use. The Annapurna Base Camp trek is more distinct than any other trek because of its multiethnic villages, rich culture, beautiful landscape, and natural scenery. It is a good introductory route for close encounters with the Himalayas in a short period. It is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This is one of the most popular and spectacular trekking trails in Nepal. The base camp is situated at 4130m/13546ft.
From Pokhara half a half-hour drive to Phedi by private car. The Annapurna Base Camp trek commences from Phedi. From Phedi, the trail passes through the Sal trees with sections of stone steps. During trekking days, trekkers enjoy spectacular mountain scenery with incredible cultural diversity, although there are some steep climbs in the trekking trail until Dhampus village. The village has superb views of the Annapurna ranges, including the Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, etc., mountains; beautiful sunsets and sunrises on the Himalayas; and a countryside experience, with inhabitants of Brahmins, Chhetris, and Gurungs in Dhampus.
The Annapurna base camp trek is an incredible diversity of the Annapurna and offers naturalists the perfect environment for discovering a wealth of bird life. Its unique habitats shelter diverse groups of bird species. In the Annapurna region, birds are daily, seasonal, and altitudinal migrants; birds such as cuckoos visit in spring for breeding.
The ABC trek is combined with Poon Hill (3210 m/10528 ft). From Poon hill, you can observe incredible sunrise with panoramic view of a plethora peaks Churen Himal, Dhaulagiri (8167 m/26788 ft), Nilgiri (7041 m/23094 ft), Fishtail or Machhapuchhare (6998 m/22953 ft) Mount Annapurna I (8091 m/26538 ft), Mount Annapurna II (7939 m/26039 ft), Mount Annapurna III (7555 m/24780 ft), Mount Annapurna IV (7525 m/24682 ft), Mount Annapurna South (7219 m/23678 ft), Mount Himchuli (6441 m/21126 ft), Lamjung Himal (6986 m/22914 ft), and Tukuche Peak. The trail descends through the forest to Ulleri. From the Ulleri trail, drop on the staircase of a few thousand steps to the Tirkhedunga. The trail follows the Burundi Khola with warm weather to the Birethanti. The Annapurna base camp trek ends at Nayapul.
Standing at 4,130m, Annapurna base camp is encircled by soaring peaks, such as Aannapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), and the holy Machhapuchhre (6,993m). You'll now have the opportunity to see the spectacular 360-degree views of glaciers and ice walls.
Poon Hill Sunrise (3,210m): Be mesmerized by sunrise from iconic Poon Hill viewpoint. Observe golden hue on Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna ranges, lighting up more than 20 stunning Himalayan peaks in the distance.
Varied Ecological Zones: Travel through sub-tropical forest, rhododendron woods, bamboo jungles to alpine meadows. Observe Nepal's national flower bloom beautifully in the spring while getting to view varied mountain wildlife along the way.
Genuine Gurung Culture: Dive into old Gurung village life at Chomrong (2,170m) and Ghandruk. Bask in the warmth of Himalayan hospitality, traditional architecture, daily mountain existence, and a brief look at legendary Gurkha warrior traditions.
Jhinu Danda Natural Hot Springs (1,780m): Unwind fatigued muscles in rejuvenating natural hot springs along the Modi Khola river. Mineral-rich thermal waters are the finest recompense following taxing trekking days amidst dramatic scenery.
Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m): Climb at spiritual "Fishtail Mountain" Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Nepal's most iconic unclimbed peak. Relax at sunrise and sunset and make an early assault to Annapurna Base Camp the following morning.
