Simikot Limi Valley trekking is a wilderness trekking trip in Nepal. The trekking trail between two countries, Nepal and Tibet. The trail passes through the beautiful village of Kermi. The trail descends to altitudes below 3000 meters. You will see vegetation and trees begin to emerge again. You will walk through the pine and birch trees with the Sali River by your side. The trail leads to the Karnali River and natural hot springs.
Simikot Limi Valley trekking through the Yalbang, the steep ascent for 2 hours crosses a suspension bridge over the Sali River. Yalbang has so many places and heritage sites to offer that you could easily spend a day here. The Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery is one of them and shelters about 130 monks. During this trek, you have a chance to spot the elusive snow leopard, Himalayan blue sheep, jackals, hyenas, and musk deer. You sleep in authentic, small Buddhist villages and camp in amazing spots amidst the snow-capped mountains. The trail ascends to Nara La Pass at 4620 m. From the pass, you can view an amazing panoramic mountain view of Nepali and Tibetan mountains. After a few hours of descending, you will be at the Hilsa border of Nepal and Tibet.
The Simikot Limi Valley trekking trail leads through pine trees and rocky hillocks. You will cross the Karnali River through a big wooden suspension bridge. Also, you can see old lifestyles and sheep and donkeys carrying sacks of salt on their backs to trade for grain. They are incredibly supportive of the human beings. After tea, coffee is recommended to visit Dhungkar Choezom Monastery, which is affiliated with the Shakya Lineage. Limi Valley trekking visits isolated locations; the villages are very untouched by modern development. Century-old Buddhist traditions interwoven with shamanistic influences are still an important part of daily life; follow the ancient salt trading and pilgrimage route to the border of Nepal and China.
The Limi Valley Trek in Simikot is one of the most remote and restricted area treks in Nepal. It is situated near the Tibetan border, in the Humla region of Nepal. In contrast to the overcrowded Everest or Annapurna treks, this trek allows the visitor to discover untouched Tibetan Buddhism, age-old monasteries, and villages whose culture has remained unaltered for many years. Trekkers trek through the beautiful Himalayan passes such as Nyalu La and witness the glorious range of Mt. Kailash. The trek is a great choice for travelers looking for a real wilderness adventure.
Go trek in the far parts of Humla, in the Himalayan wilderness. This is away from Nepal’s busy, well known trail lines. You will spend long days in quiet hills and valleys.
The route includes big mountain passes. One example is Nyalu La. From there, you can look out over white snowy peaks in many directions.
You can also see Tibetan Buddhist life up close. Visit old monasteries and chortens. You will pass small towns where people keep old customs and faith.
Some parts are not open to everyone. You may need a permit to enter. Only a small number of trekkers come here each year.
You will stay in village homes during the trek. The Limi families host you for meals and rest. You get a real feel for daily life in the Humli hills.
