Chandragiri Day Hiking

Chandragiri day hiking is one of the best day hikes around in the Kathmandu Valley. The hiking starts at the Hinduism Temple at Matatirtha or the Hotel Outlook INN. The clean environment makes you different, and you feel relaxed in your mind. Also, you can view the panoramic view of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. From the Outlook Inn hotel, the trail leads to Chhap Bhanjyang at 2275 m through the small village and forest. You will walk 3 hours steeply up a stone staircase to the Chhap Bhanjyang. Here you will get tea and coffee in a local tea shop. This tea shop only opens in season. After one hour walking through the forest, you will be at Chandragiri Hill at 2729 m.

On the Chandragiri day hike, you can observe a spectacular mountain view west to east, including Mt. Api, Saipal, Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and the Gaurishankar mountain range.

The Chandragiri inhabitant is an auspicious medical plant (herb); it has been found in the Chandragiri jungle subtropical zone (1,000-2,275 m). It is also a remarkable place to observe the varieties of birds, including the grey wagtail, steppe eagle, kingfishers, common myna, Indian pond heron, oriental turtle dove, red-vented bulbul, great egret, house crow, house sparrow, little egret, spotted dove, and so many others. Outline Itinerary of Chandragiri Day Hiking

• 07:00 – Gather all groups in front of the Himalayan Smile Treks office.
   
• 07:15 – Drive 45 min to Hotel De Outlook Inn, near Matatirtha Temple, from HST office
   
• 08:00 – Tea and coffee break in the Outlook Inn hotel, fill up a water bottle, or do some last-minute shopping for the hike.
   
• 08:30 – Start hiking from Hotel De Outlook Inn to Chhap Bhanjyang through the small village and forest. Walk for 3 hours.
   
• 11:30 – After 3 3-hour steep climb, reach the top of Chhap Bhanjyang at 2,275m.
   
• 11:30 to 12:30 – lunch break for one hour (Packed lunch).
   
• 12:30 – Continue the hike to the Chandragiri Hill
   
• 13:30 – Reach the top of Chandragiri Hill at 2729m, which is rewarded with spectacular views of the mountains.
   
• 16:00 – The trial continues for two and a half hours and descends to the Hattiban Resort. Your day hiking is at an end. Tea break for 15 m.
   
• 16:15 – Drive to Kathmandu by private vehicle. Drop all the group members in front of the HST office.
