The Kathmandu city tour is a fixed departure tour that provides you with the overall sightseeing of the Kathmandu Valley. This package is basically designed for the group joining of a minimum of 4 people. With the daily basis of available sightseeing, the Kathmandu city tour fixed departure is the most reliable product that Himalayan Smile Treks has brought. The tour simply divides the 3 cities: Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, where typical Newari people live. The customs and traditions are well preserved from the ancient histories, while many festivals are celebrated in this cultural valley. This tour connects you to the various temples and stupas along with unique arts & architecture. Hence, regarding these attractions, you will visit the world heritage sites and ancient places of the Kathmandu Valley.

Kathmandu City Tour Package

The Kathmandu city tour package cost is USD 40 per person for each fixed departure. Note that either of the two departures would count as a full-day tour and cost USD 30 per person. The price includes one highly professional tour guide and a cozy vehicle. Hence, we do not provide food and entrance fees. Below are some fixed departures we organize according to your choices.

FIXED DEPARTURE OPTION 1:

1) Pashupatinath temple

Pashupatinath Temple is the most famous and biggest pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees. This World Heritage Site is in the northeast of Kathmandu, near the bank of the sacred Bagmati River. Pashupati literally means ‘the lord of the animals’ and is one of the many forms of the Hindu god Shiva. Hence, this is the temple of Lord Shiva, who is one of the 3 main gods of Hinduism.

Attractions: Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple of Pashupatinath. Although you can observe the Pashupatinath temple surroundings from the top of the viewpoint, there are also other holy places to visit, like the deer park, Guyeshori Temple, and Gorakhnath Temple, and you can also watch a live cremation ceremony on the bank of the Bagmati River. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant places in the Hindu religion after the three Dhams (Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Muktinath). Hindus believe visiting these four sites only   helps achieve “Moksha” (salvation)

Festivals: The festivals celebrated here are Maha Shivaratri, Teej, and Shaun Shankranti, attracting thousands of Hindu visitors. Shivaratri is one of the major festivals in Nepal and India in honor of Lord Shiva. The festival is celebrated on the 14th day of Magha (Nepali 10th month), which is when Lord Shiva was born. This day, millions of devotees across the world visit Pashupatinath, making it the biggest crowd.

Entrance Fee: Rs. 1000/- for both foreigners and SAARC nationals

2) Boudhanath Stupa

Boudhanath is the largest spherical stupa in the world. This stupa is one of the famous pilgrimage sites and World Heritage Sites located in the northeast of Kathmandu. According to ancient history, the stupa was built after the swan landed in Boudha to capture the king’s head. Since then, this is regarding the religious site.

Attractions: There are cafes, restaurants, and lodges surrounding the big courtyard of the stupa.

Festivals: Many Buddhists and Tibetan Buddhists gather in this place during Losar, Buddha Jayanti, and other festivals.

Entrance fee: Rs. 250/- for foreigners, Rs. 150 for SAARC nationals

FIXED DEPARTURE OPTION 2:

1) Swayambhunath Stupa

Swayambhunath is one of the famous ancient stupas in the west of Kathmandu. This stupa is situated at the top of the hill from where one can see the outlook of the Kathmandu Valley. Back many centuries ago, there was a big lake instead of the Kathmandu Valley. The Tibetan-Buddhist deity Lord Manjushree saw the big lotus, which is now Swayambhunath. Then he cuts the obstacles with the holy sword to expunge all the waters, creating the Kathmandu Valley and the Swayambhunath. Swayambhunath also refers to the monkey temple, as there are a massive number of monkeys surrounding the hill. Legends say the monkeys were the only survivors of the humans who lived on Swayambhunath Hill, and after the incident of Manjushree, they were created as the monkeys. Monkeys, no wonder Swayambhunath is a World Heritage Site; every morning, the stupa gets crowded by the pilgrims and visitors.

Festivals: The festivals celebrated here are Buddha Jayanti, Gula, and Losar.

Entrance Fee: Rs. 200 for foreigners, Rs. 50 for SAARC

2) Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the heart of Kathmandu, surrounded by spectacular architecture and cultural craftsmen. It is also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square due to the statue of Hanuman at the entrance of the palace. Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the 7 world heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley.

Important places: Outside of Durbar, you will explore Kumari House, the Kaal Bhairav statue, and Taleju Temple. Hanuman Dhoka, Basantapur, etc.

Festivals: This place is the festival spot for Indrajatra, Machindranath's chariot, Holi, and more.

Entrance fee: Rs. 750 for foreigners, Rs. 150 for SAARC

FIXED DEPARTURE OPTION 3:

1) Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur is the ancient town of the valley and lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square consists of four distinct squares, which are Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square, and Pottery Square. Hence, tourists visit this world heritage site in the Kathmandu Valley.

Important places: Besides Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the other attractions are the 55-window palace and the Nyatapola temple. The Vatsala temple. Golden Gate, a statue of Bhupatindra Malla, etc.

Entrance fee: US$15 for a foreigner, Rs. 500 for SAARC nationals

FIXED DEPARTURE OPTION 4:

1) Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square, which lies in the center of Lalitpur City (historically Patan), is an ancient royal palace where Malla kings have resided. Today, this site is one of the world's heritage sites affiliated with cultural sites. Patan is one of the oldest Buddhist cities and a city of fêtes and festivals.

Important places: The major structures outside of Durbar Square are Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, and Vishwanath Temple. Taleju Bhawani temple, etc.

Entrance fee: Rs. 500 for foreigners, Rs. 100 for SAARC
