ABC Trek Via Poon Hill popular hiking destination of the Annapurna region in Nepal, the ABC trek can be combined with poon hill. The trek commences from Pokhara valley, an amazing tourist spot in the whole Himalayas with awesome views of Annapurna. While the Annapurna is reflected in the simmering Lake Phewa. The trek heads to higher lands with a climb on a stone-paved paved steep steps, sometimes on leaving the village area, walk into alpine woodland of wonderful rhododendron, pines, oaks, and bamboo trees, the walk leads to a large Gurung village of Chomrong at the height of 1,951 meters, the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to ABC Trek.
The Annapurna area was first explored by the British adventurer Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. As a result, the Sanctuary has been christened as “Annapurna Sanctuary” ever since. While the ABC trek is combined with the Poon Hill (3210m) trek. This trekking route can observe a close-up view of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7041m), Fishtail or Machhapuchhare (6998m,) Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna (II 7939m), Annapurna III(7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna south (7219m), Himchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal (6986m), Tukuche peak (6920m). This trek is more distinct than any other trek by its multi-ethnic villages, their rich culture, beautiful landscape, and natural scenery. How to access ABC Trek Via Poon Hill ?
ABC Trek of 14 days starts with a short drive to Nayapul. And then walking from the warm areas with a slow climb towards the mid hills through several traditional Gurung tribes’ farm villages with constant beautiful views of the Annapurna Mountains with majestic Mt. Machapuchare (Fish Tail). The trail passes through rural farms and villages, a variety of terrain, and glaciers. After Chomrong, you’ll head downhill over terraced farm fields to the Chomrong River. And then an uphill climb through cool dense forest to Bamboo a small settlement, located by the Modi River. From here trek advances in to the cooler area after leaving the tree lines at Machapuchare Base Camp 3,720m. While Machapuchare Base Camp is located at the base of the towering North Face of Fishtail peak, the starting point of the sanctuary and towards ABC.
Trek to ABC Trek Via Poon Hill from here with close views of the Annapurna mountain range heading high on grassy uphill slopes, to reach Annapurna Base Camp overlooking magnificent Annapurna peaks and Annapurna I a wall of a mountain.
