The Poon Hill trek is one of the most accessible sunrise points in the Himalayas. It is also known as the Ghorepani trek. The 6-day Poon Hill trekking trail is very popular for short trekking and is considered not too dangerous among trekkers visiting Nepal. The bravura mountain scenery, the beautiful ethnic villages, and the unique culture validate the popularity of the Poon Hill trek.
The Poon Hill trek is an ideal moderate adventure where all kinds of travelers can take part from beginners, families, and school/college groups to corporate people. At the same time, this amazing trek takes you to the highest spot at Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,528 ft) without the hassle of altitude sickness. Also, the tall rhododendron forest surrounds the lovely village of Ghorepani. You can marvel at the mountain range with a stunning sunrise over the mountains below.
SUNRISE VIEW FROM POON HILL
Starting with an interesting six-hour drive towards mid-west Nepal at the famous Pokhara, a picturesque tourist place in the Himalayas. The Annapurna mountain and Fishtail peaks reflect on the pristine Phewa Lake, which makes Pokhara one of the most sought-after destinations. It is a mild subtropical climate surrounded by rolling green hills in contrast with white snow-capped peaks. The Poon Hill trek can be combined with the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
From Pokhara, a short drive leads towards the mid hills and then trekking on the ancient Trans-Himalayan Caravan route to Tibet via Mustang and Ghorepani. The Poon Hill trek leads past several traditional farm villages of Gurung and Thakali people around Nayapul, Bhirethati, Tirkhedhunga, and Hille to reach Ulleri. Consequently, a large Gurung village with stone-slated rooftops is located after a steep climb on stone steps from Tirkhedhunga and its beautiful waterfalls. Furthermore, you will walk into the lovely, pleasant alpine forest of rhododendrons, pines, hemlocks, oaks, and fir trees with views of snow-capped peaks towards the north. Our Ghorepani Poon Hill trek itinerary is flexible; we can customize it according to your interest.
After a glorious moment, it was heading back to continue the trek via an alternative route with many uphills and downhills leading through villages of Ghandruk and Landrung, a large Gurung village with constant views of Annapurna Himalaya, as the trek concludes at Dhampus village with a short drive back to scenic Pokhara.
