Rara to Khaptad trekking  route cover two national park Rara and Khaptad National Park. The Rara National Park covers an area of 106 km2 (41 sq m) in the Mugu and Jumla districts. It is the country’s most beautiful lake. Its main feature is Rara Lake at an altitude of 2,990 m (9,810 ft. The park contains the unique flora and fauna of the Humla–Jumla Region of Nepal.

Rara to Khaptad trekking both national park is surrounded by alpine vegetation and offers varieties of flora and fauna more than 500 species of flowers, 20 species of mammals and 214 species of birds are recorded in the Rara National park area. Likewise, endangered red panda, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard, jackal, Himalayan tahr, yellow-throated martin, wild dog, wild boar, common langur, rhesus macaque etc possible to encounter during the trekking.

Rara to Khaptad trekking 17 days is connected with another beautiful Khaptad National Park. Khaptad offers you a beautiful variety of landscapes, with rolling green hills, moorlands, steep slopes and streams. 567 species of flora have been recorded in this protected area, including rhododendron forests, oak and pine forests. From the park, you can also see the Api and Saipal Himalayan ranges. This place is also known as the holy man Khaptad Baba who meditated his entire life to get the enlighten. This religious site where Hindu pilgrims come to worship shiva on the full moon of July–August each year, located nearby the park.
