Makalu base camp trek is a remote wilderness adventure trek in Nepal which is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 km southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and China. The trek  highlights is remote valley wide diversity of faunal species rhododendron and juniper, aromatic herbs and delicate wildflowers of orchids valuable aromatic and medicinal plants. The region above 5,000 m comprises mainly rock and ice with little vegetation.

Makalu base camp trek route is protected buffer zone area  Makalu Barun National Park which is the eighth national park in the Himalayas of Nepal and was established in 1992 surrounding  by tropical forest as well as snow-capped peaks.
