Holi Festival 2018 Nepal: Holi is one of the famous festivals celebrated in Nepal and India. This festival is celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs as well as some other religious people. There is no religious restriction or boundary to celebrate this festival. This festival is going to fall on the 01 of March this year, whereas the celebration is going to be held on the 2nd in the Terai region of Nepal. Kathmandu and Pokhara are going to celebrate on the 1st of March, and cities like Chitwan and Lumbini from Terai are going to celebrate on the 2nd of March.

According to Hindu mythology, this festival is celebrated as a symbol of victory. The demon Holika was blessed by the god Shiva; she earned huge, unbeatable power. Hence, she started to feel superior and tried to kill her nephew Parhlad (a big devotee of God Vishnu). She tried very hard but became unable to kill, and finally, the demon Holika was killed by an unusual creature called Hiranyaksha. This is the history behind the festival of Holi.
The Holi festival is getting more and more popular in Kathmandu nowadays. Kids play with small balloons filled with colored water and water sprayers for a week before its main day. On the main day, the guys and girls gather up and exchange colors. This festival is celebrated among friends, family, and colleagues. A big bunch of people gather in front of Kumari Ghar at Kathmandu Durbar Square and dance to the beat of music and spray the color.
