To make your journey easier, better, more convenient, and stress-free, it's essential to know a few things before you leave for the Everest Base Camp trek, which includes a helpful checklist. The journey can be easily spoiled because of dull preparation. Today, we are going to discuss the essential items to include in your backpack before embarking on the EBC trek. Let’s discuss one by one about the things:-

Everest Base Camp trekking gear list

1. Carry bag: During trekking, the majority of your stuff goes into a porter bag, but for something that you would need during the day, you should carry those things with you. You need a small, light & comfortable bag for your day bag.

2. Snacks & Chocolates: You need to carry your chocolates and snacks for yourself. Sometimes it takes a long time to reach the destination, or you might not be able to keep up with your friend. In this scenario, it’s better to have some chocolate and snacks.

3. Soap bar/washing soda: Normally, the teahouse provides a laundry facility, but in the higher province, they don’t have a laundry service facility; thus, it’s better to be independent for this small task.

4. Quick-dry towel: It’s necessary to have a quick-dry towel because most of the teahouses don’t have fresh towels for the customer. A super fiber towel is highly recommended, as that takes a short duration of time to dry.

5. Small-sized toiletries: You should carry small-sized toiletries so that it is easy to organize and pack up after use.

6. Headlamp (flashlight): You should not miss carrying a headlamp, as this is the most essential tool during trekking. The teahouse doesn’t have sufficient light, or sometimes you have to walk in night for some photography

7. Water purifier: It's eco- and health-friendly to purify water with purifiers like a tablet, sterile pen, and portable filters. Bottled water is widely available in the teahouse, but we suggest following the eco-friendly practice.

8. Tissues/Toilet paper: You should carry a sufficient amount of tissues and toilet paper, as the teahouse doesn’t provide these things, but most of the shops sell these things in the mountain.

9. Light scarf: You should not miss a light scarf to carry some time; it becomes very helpful to fasten around the neck and hand, or sometimes you can use it as a dust mask ( In case of dusty and windy weather).

10. Woolen cap/gloves/scarf: You must not miss these things, as there is no alternative that you can use instead of these. It gets cold in the high province; thus, you must carry these articles.

11. Sunglasses/sun cap/sun hat: The sun in the Himalayas is stronger and contrasts, which comes with harmful ultraviolet rays. You should not forget to bring sunglasses and, sun cap.

12. Trekking Pole: For the Everest base camp trek, this is very important even if you are physically fit and okay without using one. You need at least one to help control the livestock passing through the same trail at the same time, because sometimes they can act crazy.

13. Comfortable warm clothes: You need to carry genuine, comfortable warm clothes for your journey because you are going to traverse through several different terrains and weather conditions.

14. Thick socks: Thick cotton socks are very important because they minimize the risk of blisters and swelling. You must carry at least half a dozen pairs of socks for your trek.

15. Waterproof jacket/raincoat: You should not forget to carry a waterproof jacket or raincoat, as sometimes it will rain quickly, which can be out of the forecast. On a cloudy day, you are recommended to carry a waterproof jacket and a raincoat with you.

16. Super fiber shirt: You are recommended to carry a quick-dry shirt because we get a lot of sweating during the day; thus, it should be dried before using it the next time.

17. Thermal innerwear: You should not forget to bring thermal long sleeves and trousers because it’s so good to protect the body during the night when it’s cold outside.

18. Trekking boot: The shoes are always a major necessary thing for trekking. You should bring a shoe one size bigger because the feet need to expand while climbing up and down, and you should use that for at least one month before the trek; that helps to avoid some serious blisters. An extra pair of light shoes and sneakers adds some more comfort.

19. Sleeping bag: You should carry a thermal sleeping bag that can work up to (-) 30. You get one blanket from a teahouse, which is not enough to tolerate the cold.

20. First aid kit: The most important thing to carry when you are doing an outdoor activity is a first aid kit. Get your first aid kit and some medicine for diarrhea, stomach pain, and altitude sickness. Check your first aid kit box twice before leaving Kathmandu. For a base camp luxury lodge trek in Kongde and Pheruche, there is also a high-altitude hospital, and every day they have a briefing about high-altitude sickness and prevention.
