INTRODUCTION TO MAGAR HERITAGE TOUR KARBAKELI TREK

Karbakeli Eco Trek is the newly explored trekking route that passes through the heart of the Annapurna region and takes you to the sacred Karbakeli Thaan region, which is a sacred site of the Pun Magar. This journey is designed to fulfill the demand of trekkers to explore offbeat trails, culture, people, and religion. Thus, it was to explore the untouched beauty of the remote region of the Myagdhi district. The journey follows the regular Poon Hill trail until Poon Hill; after we head towards the Karbakeli region via Fulbari, which is a truly amazing place. This journey takes you close to Pun Magar culture and introduces you to their tribe's god, Karbakeli.

HOW TO ACCESS KARBAKELI TREK?

The journey starts from Pokhara, driving to Nayapul, where we can start the trek or some alternative to start with. The journey can start from Beni or Tatopani as an alternative to Nayapul. Starting from Nayapul is more convenient than starting from other places. Here we are talking about the journey through Nayapul, which follows the freezing river Modi Khola, and later it follows a flowing stream called Brungdhi Khola. The walk is really beautiful, passing through the bank of the Brungdhi Khola river and its lush green all around. After Tikedhunga, the trail goes steeply up to Ulleri through the stone staircase, which is really challenging and scenic. After we reach Ulleri at 2000 m, the climate ultimately changes; it gets cold there. While we stay the first night at Ulleri in one of the teahouses.

The next day we head towards Ghorepani, which is the most famous hill station in Nepal, with dozens of mountain views and surrounded beautiful rhododendron forest. Ghorepani is also famous for the hill Poonhill, 3210m, the best viewpoint in Nepal for a panoramic Himalayan view and sunrise. The next early morning after visiting Poonhill, we head towards Karbakeli via Phoolbari, which is famous for a dense rhododendron forest. We stay in the local homestay at Karbakeli and visit the temple of Karbakeli Baba, the tribal god of the Pun Magar people. The next day, we head to Beni, walking several hours, where the trek ends. Beni is the district headquarters of Myagdhi district, which is the confluence of two beautiful rivers, Beni Khola and the holy river Kali Gandaki. Finally, the next day we drive back to Pokhara, which takes about three hours.

The Karbakeli eco trek is an amazing journey which introduces the trekker to unexplored Magar territory as well as the tribe's god and pilgrims of the Pun Magar people, which is one of the major ethnic groups of this region.
